easyJet Gatwick hangar build & start-up
-
Project managed the new-build and go-live of an airside twin-span maintenance hangar at London Gatwick Airport.

-
The hangar was a business-critical requirement and was delivered under budget within extremely tight timescales.

-
The hangar was constructed on 2 aircraft stands on the perimeter of the airfield at Gatwick.

-
The requirements included the following:
-
Twin-span hangar structure, which was 91.5m wide x 60m long.
-
New electricity sub-station (which involved pulling cables from one side of the runway to the other).
-
IT & networking.
-
New drainage.
-
A new gas plant.
-
A new water supply.
-
Internal and external accommodation (stores, offices and welfare).
-
Ground service equipment and tooling.
-
-
The project also included procurement of an MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul provider) to operate the hangar. Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International were selected to perform this role after a rigorous tender process.
-
The project time-line was extremely challenging:
-
The project started in July 2015.
-
Ground-works started in October 2015.
-
Construction of the structure commenced in November 2015.
-
The hangar structure was complete and fully operational by May 2016.
